5X5 Gaming Raises $1.7M in Seed Funding

5X5 gamea cross-platform games company based in San Francisco, Calif., raised $1.7 million in seed funding.

The round was led by Com2uS, Harmony, The Sandbox and YGG, with participation from Dialectic Capital, Lucid Blue Ventures, Ed Lu, Michael Vorhaus and Andrew Chan.

The company intends to use the funds to create base games.

Led by Deniz Gezgin, Founder and CEO, 5X5 Gaming is a cross-platform gaming company focused on creating games with digital collectibles and competitive, social gaming experiences.

5×5 Gaming is headquartered in San Francisco, but has employees in Los Angeles, Chicago, Mexico, Vietnam, India, and Turkey.

The company’s first game, Battle of the Kingdoms, will celebrate and honor a number of cultures around the world and allow players to play, collect and digitally own (via NFTs) historical warriors and soldiers from different cultures. The society consults with local historians and experts to ensure proper representation of all characters and nations.

Gezgin brings a wide range of experience to lead 5×5 Gaming. A former member of Turkey’s national teenage athletics team, he received his undergraduate and post-graduate education, and held leadership and strategic positions in game development as well as digital collectibles, including heading of Topps’ digital division.
