Basketball Playing Nassau Championship

DENTON — The North Texas men’s basketball team, back-to-back United States Conference champions, will play in the eight-team Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship in Nassau, Bahamas, Nov. 25-27.

UNT, which won a program-record 25 games last year, will face San Jose State in the first round (Nov. 25) of the Nassau Championship scheduled to begin at 4:30 a.m. CT. All games will be broadcast on FloHoops and the Mean Green Sports Network presented by Learfield,

Along with North Texas and SJSU, Nassau’s 2022 championship field includes Vermont, Ball State, Long Beach State, Missouri State, UNC Wilmington and Oakland.

All matches will be played at the Baha Mar Convention Center.

Along with winning a program-record 25 games last season, the Mean Greens won a program-record 16 championship games en route to their third straight C-USA title. North Texas won its first-ever trip to the National Invitational Tournament and advanced to the second round. UNT featured the nation’s No.1 goalscoring defense last year, limiting their opponents to just 55.7 points per game. They come back rubin jones and Abu Ousmane as well as top scorer Tylor Perry who was named All-Conference First Team and Sixth C-USA Player of the Year. North Texas has added four newcomers to the mix for this upcoming season.
