The world of video games is about to invade our televisions. At CES 2022, several manufacturers presented new models with high image refresh rates, which will soon offer access to game streaming platforms. This will allow gamers to enjoy their favorite titles on a quality big screen, whether playing on a console or in the cloud.

For years, televisions have been the star of the show at CES, and this year is no exception, with some spectacular announcements that should bring good news to gamers.

Industry leader Samsung has revealed that most of its future Neo QLED TVs will have an image refresh rate of up to 144Hz, a high standard that promises extremely smooth gaming. On the other hand, the South Korean manufacturer is seeking to expand the space dedicated to gaming in its multimedia offer, in particular with the native integration of online gaming platforms such as Stadia (Google) and GeForce Now (Nvidia). For now, it remains to be seen which line of TVs will be involved.

Samsung isn’t the only manufacturer betting on gaming to sell more TVs. Chinese brand TCL, for example, has made similar announcements. Its new high-end Mini LED TVs will deliver an optimized 144Hz picture refresh rate. In addition, TCL will launch a new gaming space on its smart TVs, also including Stadia, along with personalized game recommendations. This space will automatically offer video parameters specifically adapted to gaming.

With such developments, the TV of tomorrow could well become the (large) ideal screens for gaming, whatever the input source (console, online platform, etc.).

CES 2022 runs through January 7 in Las Vegas.
