Prime Volleyball League: Focus on player fitness to ensure injury-free tournament, say head coaches of Ahmedabad defenders
Players and coaches are going through their training sessions at full speed as the RuPay Prime Volleyball League (PVL) nears its start date of February 5 in Hyderabad.
Ahmedabad Defenders head coaches Dakshinamoorthy Sundaresan and Sajad Hussain Malik are focused on improving the players’ physical fitness and perfecting their techniques.
“We mainly focus on the physical fitness of the players to make sure they don’t get injured during the competition. We have a good mix of players; both experience and youth in our squad. We are happy with the line-up,” Sundaresan said. , who has more than 35 years of coaching experience.

Meanwhile, Malik highlighted the contribution of international players to the Defenders. “The contribution of international players will be amazing. We have been competing with Asian countries at the international level, but the RuPay Prime Volleyball League invites the best players from all over the world. Our Indian players will be exposed to the standard of international players and we can also learn new tactics from them,” he said.
Sundaresan signed off thanking the organizers and franchise owners for their contribution to the growth of volleyball in India. “I thank the tournament organizers and franchise owners for their contribution in promoting Indian volleyball. This tournament is a very good platform for our players,” he said.
