Prince of Persia remake now being developed by Ubisoft Montreal

Although some may have forgotten that a Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time the remake is still under development, Ubisoft announced a change in its development team. The highly anticipated and indefinitely delayed game is now being developed by Ubisoft Montreal after being worked on by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was originally revealed in September 2020 with a trailer that showed off the game’s updated art style and features. It showed cutscenes, voice acting, and even gameplay. Since then, Ubisoft has gone radio silent on the title, with most announcements being that it won’t be shown at various events, such as E3, throughout 2021.

the sands of time remake originally had a release date of January 21, 2021. Shortly after this announcement, the title was pushed back once again to March 18, 2021. After this delay, the game received an indefinite delay and with the report of today, it seems that this indefinite delay may last even longer.

Ubisoft isn’t the only company struggling with the dilemma of a change of development team on top of an indefinite release. by Nintendo Metroid Prime 4 is still a sore point for fans as it’s been years since it was announced and delayed. Like Ubisoft, Nintendo changed the entire development team to Metroid Prime 4and fans haven’t heard from the game since.

The development process reached by the Ubisoft Pune and Mumbai teams is unknown, as is the exact reason why Ubisoft Montreal was brought in to complete the project. Digital Trends has reached out to Ubisoft for further comment and will update this article when it responds.
