Scenes from Druid Hills: The 55th Dogwood Invitational
Since 1941, the Dogwood Invitational has been a centerpiece of amateur golf championship and true hospitality in the Southeast, giving competitors and spectators a first glimpse of the golfers who would become icons of the game.
Past champions include Hudson Swafford (2006), Webb Simpson (2007), and Brian Harman (2009), among many others. Georgian legend Tommy Barnes, who qualified for 16 consecutive US Amateur Championships, has won the event five times. Auburn junior Carson Bacha added his name to that illustrious list with a five-stroke victory for the 55th race of the tournament, capping the biggest amateur victory of his young career with a 66 finish that included a remarkable double eagle.
