HOPEWELL, New Jersey – IUPUI fifth year senior Macée Williams is one of 25 players selected to the pre-season watchlist for the 2022 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award presented by Her Hoop Stats. The award was first presented in 2020, and this year’s preseason watchlist includes players from 22 schools and 13 conferences. Williams is one of two Horizon League players on this year’s watch list.

A day after being voted Horizon League Preseason Player of the Year, Williams once again finds himself among the elite with this recognition. She is a three-time Horizon League player of the year and begins her final season with an academic record of 1,851 and second on the IUPUI all-time roster with 1,003 rebounds. For her career, she has averaged 15.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in 115 career games.

She has helped lead the IUPUI to back-to-back Horizon League tournament games and to the Championship title in 2020. In Williams’ four seasons to date, she has amassed 80 victories in a USA uniform. IUPUI.

To be eligible for this award, players must compete in one of the 26 conferences considered “mid-major”. The following conferences are considered major for the purposes of this award and therefore ineligible: ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC. In January, 15 players will be named to the mid-season watchlist. The 10 semi-finalists will be announced in February, and five finalists will be announced in early March. The winner will be announced at the end of March. The roster is fluid and players can play their way on or off the roster during the season.
